Link to NEARPOD
Nearpod is a tool that allows teachers to control student ipads or iphones, and combines presentation (a-la power point), collaboration, and real-time assessment tools all in one.
There is a free version of this app which is great for testing it out. My district has purchased a 'school license' for the nearpod app, upgrading from the free version (which is pretty awesome too). I could write for days about all the things I love about nearpod, but I am most excited about the draw it function and that one of my favorite go-to websites for physics now works on an ipad.
Within the app teachers can add content, website links, twitter feeds, and there is even a 'draw it' function. Shown here is what the teach sees when students submit their work using the draw it function:
My very favorite new way to engage kids is through the University of Colorodo's Phet Simulations linked through the nearpod presentation:

This is pretty great. I didn't know University of Colorodo's Phet Simulations went HTML5. And with Nearpod that makes it even better! Checks for understanding and immediate feedback!!!
ReplyDeleteI still use it and love it! And Phet is updating to more and more HTML5 all the time.
